The Kaplický Future Systems will transform into a foundation

London - The proposal by Czech architect Jan Kaplický for the Enzo Ferrari Museum in Modena will be executed by his collaborator Andrea Morgante. Similarly, Kaplický's Future Systems has ceased to function as an architectural studio and will change into a foundation. This was reported today on the website of the British professional magazine Building.
    Jan Kaplický passed away earlier this January at the age of 72. According to the magazine, his widow Eliška confirmed that the plans to transform Future Systems into a foundation will be completed within a few months.
    Future Systems employed up to 50 people, and Kaplický led the studio with his former wife Amanda Levete. Just shortly before Kaplický's death, they agreed on splitting the office. Kaplický retained the name Future Systems and a team of four architects, while she stayed in the original studio under the company name Amanda Levete Architects.
    "Amanda and I agreed on that. The establishment of the foundation and everything around it will be legally completed in a few months, but it seems that this is agreed upon," said Eliška Kaplicky.
    She also intends to lead the foundation. "I will be happy to take care of the foundation. Through it, we can realize more buildings," she said.
    According to Building, the Ferrari Museum is the last Kaplický project that will certainly be realized. Construction will be overseen by his collaborator Andrea Morgante, who in the meantime has established his own practice Shiro Studio. "When Jan tragically passed away, I was the architect of the project and the deputy director of Future Systems. The client asked me to oversee the construction and complete the interior designs," he added.
    The realization of the museum in Modena shows that efforts to realize Kaplický's legacy have shifted from his native Czech Republic to Italy, noted Building. His library in Prague will almost certainly not be built, and the concert hall project in České Budějovice, which is to be completed by Czech architect Eva Jiřičná, has been postponed, the magazine stated.
