Yesterday, 45 photographs taken during the ON-SITE exhibition appeared on the Flickr.com server. The exhibition took place from mid-February to May 1, 2006, at New York's MoMA and focused on contemporary architecture in Spain. Curator Terence Riley selected thirty-five projects that are somehow significant, which are either still in the design phase or under construction. These works are contextualized with eighteen other buildings that have recently celebrated great success in Spain. The presented projects reflected the geographical and generational diversity of the current wave of new projects and their architects, as well as a wide range of scope - from single-family homes to international airports. This exhibition did not only showcase the successes of Spanish architects but also Spanish contributions from foreign architects.
The accompanying catalog has been sitting on my pile of favorite books on my desk for over a week now and will probably stay there for a long time. Link>
