The FORUM URBAN ACUPUNCTURE conference will conclude the two-year project CULBURB, organized by the Prague Center for Central European Architecture.
In Ljubljana, the final meeting of the international project CULBURB titled “Forum Urban Acupuncture” will take place from April 18 to 20. The results of a two-year project focused on public life in contemporary Central European suburbs will be presented in Slovenia. The event includes a conference where numerous experts from twelve European countries will present their own contributions. The Czech Republic is represented by five projects realized in the Central Bohemian municipality of Psáry.
The three-day event in the Slovenian capital will wrap up the two-year project CULBURB, which involves seven organizations from six European countries. Artistic and architectural interventions were created in selected municipalities as part of the project, and the authors will now present the results in Ljubljana. The goal of the final meeting is not only to present individual realizations but also to discuss their impact on the locations in question and to talk more generally about the role of artistic interventions in public space and the strengthening of the political significance of suburban areas.
The first day of the event will offer a series of publicly accessible lectures and discussions, with international experts invited from among artists, curators, philosophers, urban planners, sociologists, lawyers, and architects. In the evening, all 27 projects developed over the past 12 months will be presented to the public. This presentation provides a unique opportunity to compare the realized interventions and confront different approaches, to draw inspiration from experiences, and to engage in discussions with their authors or invited experts.
The remaining two days will be dedicated to an internal meeting of the authors and organizers of the project CULBURB. A detailed program of the event in English can be found below or on the website. The conference is co-organized by the Slovenian partner organization KUD C3.
The CULBURB Project focuses on public life in contemporary Central European suburbs. Seven organizations from six Central European countries collaborate on the project, during which nearly thirty acupuncture interventions will be realized over two years. The Central Bohemian municipality of Psáry was selected for the project in the Czech Republic. The goal of the project is not only to identify specific issues in each locality but primarily to open up more general themes that touch upon the essence of today’s satellite towns. More about the project can be found on the website: www.culburb.eu
The project is under the patronage of RNDr. Tomáš Hudeček, Ph.D., the First Deputy Mayor of Prague.
The project is organized by: CCEA, Center for Central European Architecture (Prague), www.ccea.cz Co-organizers: Soho in Ottakring (Vienna), Kortárs Épiteszeti Központ (Budapest), KUD C3 (Ljubljana), Verejný podstavec (Bratislava), Centrum komunitného rozvoja (Bratislava), Fundacja Bęc Zmiana (Warsaw)
