The Berlin district disagrees with director Lynch's meditation center

Berlin - Famous American director David Lynch plans to build a spiritual center in Berlin, where transcendental meditation, of which he is a passionate promoter, would be taught. However, officials from the Berlin district of Grunewald, where this spiritual university is supposed to be located, are not too fond of the eccentric filmmaker's intentions. According to Reuters, they hinted today that they are unlikely to grant him the necessary permits.
    Lynch visited the German capital this week to present his project for a spiritual school that will be linked to similar centers across Europe. He intends to purchase land on Teufelsberg, where an American military listening station stood during the Cold War. According to today's edition of the Berlin newspaper Der Tagesspiegel, the purchase agreement was to be signed by the end of February next year.
    However, officials from Grunewald argued today that the plans of the creator of films like Eraserhead and Twin Peaks do not fit into the land use concept of this district, located in the western part of Berlin. According to earlier plans, a forest was supposed to be created at the site of the proposed center.
    The district's mayor, Monika Thiemen, stated according to Reuters that it is unlikely Lynch will receive permission to build on Teufelsberg. Her representative, Klaus-Dieter Gröhler, expressed the same sentiment.
    Furthermore, sect expert Thomas Gandow from the German Evangelical Church pointed out that transcendental meditation can be very dangerous for some people, as it partially coerces the subordination of the thinking of group members.
