The exhibition mapping the production of Vítkovice will be extended

Ostrava - An exhibition titled The Phenomenon of Vítkovice, which maps the engineering production of the Vítkovice ironworks in the Ostrava Museum, will be extended. It was originally scheduled to end today. However, the museum management has extended it for another week due to great interest. "It can't last any longer. A long-awaited permanent exhibition focusing on the history of Ostrava will come to these spaces," said Jiřina Kábrtová, the museum director, to ČTK.
    The success of the exhibition, which includes models of warships from the Austro-Hungarian era, bridges, and television towers in which the factory participated over its 180-year history, is evidenced by the fact that more than 8,500 people have already visited it.
    The exhibition, which will be definitively closed on April 6, has two lines. The technical part mainly showcases models of products from the shipbuilding industry and steel structures - masts, bridges, and buildings. Among them is, for example, a model of the Mariánský Bridge in Ústí nad Labem or a folding road bridge over the Danube in Komárno. Models of transmitters include Hošťálkovice, Ještěd, and Kamzík. Technically inclined visitors will also appreciate a miniature steam generator or a small steel mill or biogas station.
    The artistic part of the exhibition includes works of art thematically focusing mainly on the former Vítkovice ironworks, now the joint-stock company Vítkovice. Many of these works were created by artists directly in Vítkovice. The oldest displayed piece is the well-known Knipl's lithograph from 1855 with an overall view of the Vítkovice industrial plants.
