Olomouc - The twelve most beautiful parks and gardens of the Olomouc region throughout their historical development will be presented to the public by the Olomouc Museum of History starting Friday. The exhibition curator of Green Pearls, Renáta Fifková, told reporters today that the exhibits come from all over Moravia.
    "In the region, there are about fifty listed historical green sites. We selected the most valuable or interesting ones. Some of these parks and gardens have been devastated since 1945, while others have completely disappeared. For example, the Baroque garden in Velké Losiny was replaced by an English park in the 19th century, even during the Liechtenstein era," Fifková stated. Visitors to the museum can at least see a large wooden model of this lost garden. "At that time, the decorations also disappeared, sandstone sculptures by Moravian and Silesian authors, such as Jiří Antonín Heinz, were destroyed or sold at auction. However, two of the dwarfs from that era have survived and are part of the exhibition," Fifková added.
    Period photographs, views, and sketches capture the château gardens in Čechy pod Kosířem, Náměšť na Hané, Loučná nad Desnou, Veselíček, and Nové Zámky near Litovel.
    In the display cases, there are also century-old herbariums and a gardening apprenticeship certificate from 1745, written on parchment and richly decorated. "Since this is a rare archival item, it will only be here until December, after which it will be replaced by a copy," the curator stated.
    The exhibition Green Pearls, accompanied by the publication of the same name, will last until January 11 of next year.
