Libuše Jarcovjáková & Vladimír Jarcovják: MAKE SOME SPACE
Make Some Space presents the very first joint exhibition of photographer Libuše Jarcovjáková and her father, painter Vladimír Jarcovják. In the space of Kolektiv.Haus in Zlín, their works engage in a dialogue that connects personal experience with visual thinking across generations and mediums. The unique exhibition, accompanied by an interesting program, is invited by Živý Zlín.
Libuše Jarcovjáková will present a series of photographs titled Here and There, at Night, During the Day, created during a month-long artistic symposium in Mikulov, but at various places in Europe. The author developed it during a period of intense work related to the premiere of the documentary film I’m Not Yet Who I Want to Be. The photographs, supplemented by diary entries, capture fragments of everyday life with typical rawness, intimacy, and attention to detail.
In addition to this collection, the exhibition also makes accessible a lesser-known part of Vladimír Jarcovják's work. The core of the author's creation can be found primarily at the intersection of painting, drawing, and graphics. The exhibition presents his objects resulting from intuitive work with common, often overlooked materials. These spatial compositions demonstrate the author’s sensitivity to structure and form, expanding his artistic language towards material and spatial expression. In combination with the work of his daughter, a space is created where the intimate and formal planes complement and challenge each other.
The Jarcovják family has been connected to Zlín for several generations. Grandfather Josef Jarcovják worked here as a builder, and his own villa became an important place for the childhood and memories of both exhibitors. The exhibition Make Some Space is thus a return to these roots as well as an attempt to create a space – for dialogue, for closeness, and for distance.
The work of Libuše Jarcovjáková was created as part of the Mikulov Art Symposium "Work" and was loaned by the city of Mikulov from the Collection of Contemporary Art of the city of Mikulov.
