Galerie Kostka - Call for Exhibition Projects for 2018
MeetFactory o.p.s. announces an international call for project submissions to supplement the exhibition program for the year 2018 in Gallery Kostka.
The call is intended for both Czech and foreign authors and artists from the fields of visual arts, architecture, design, scenography, and related disciplines.
Winter and Summer Calls
Gallery Kostka is characterized by its non-gallery type and variable conditions influenced, among other things, by changes in weather. The space of the gallery, a former factory for technical glass, is not heated in winter, nor air-conditioned in summer, and is not insulated against moisture.
For this reason, the call is directed (not exclusively) to authors and artists of projects that thematically, formally or technically utilize the specific conditions of the space and who manage to incorporate the variability of the environment and chance into the creative process.
Authors and artists can submit projects within the winter and summer calls for the following periods:
Winter Call: January–March 2018
Summer Call: June–August 2018
There are 2–3 time slots available, with a standard exhibition duration of one month.
MeetFactory provides:
• basic facilities for installation
• financial coverage of small expenses up to a maximum of 1000 EUR (can cover part of travel expenses)
• printing of A5 postcards for the exhibition
• printing of curatorial texts about the exhibition in Czech and English, including translation
• basic PR (press release, social media, etc.)
In the case of financially demanding projects, we recommend that artists and curators consider the possibility of individual grants.
The room is monitored by a camera system, and the gallery is open daily from 1 PM to 8 PM.
The application should include:
• a brief project annotation (1–2 standard pages) and visualization, or image documentation (PDF, max. 10MB)
• artistic and/or curatorial portfolio, including current CV (PDF, max. 10MB)
• please indicate in the subject of the applications “Applicant's Name_Gallery Kostka_Call 2018”
Applications can be submitted electronically until August 31, 2017 at the email: opencall@meetfactory.cz.

Results will be announced at the end of September 2017. Projects will be evaluated by the curator of Gallery MeetFactory and Gallery Kostka, Eva Riebová, in collaboration with curators of residency programs Lucia Kvočáková and Piotr Sikora, and members of the MeetFactory dramaturgical teams.
