Library, stage, projection wall - activities implemented in the PRAHA / Forum for Architecture and Media space by the Final_Final group over the past 3 months aimed to explore the possibilities of destabilization, acceptance of variability, and subversion of certainties in the objects that both meaningfully and physically define this space. We invite you to the completion of a series of three objects and the opening of a new artwork created for the cultural space in collaboration with Jozef Ondrík from Deep Throat Studio, which is currently nominated for the Czech Grand Design 2018 award for visual identity for PRAHA / Forum for Architecture and Media and visual style for the film Ócuka (Milan Mazúr).
The appropriation of the visual language of countercultures by corporate institutions occurs with traceable periodicity. What is originally an alternative produced by a minority group often becomes regular mainstream due to its long-term successful rooting in society. One exemplary countercultural approach is the absence of a logo in "one's" space, which can be perceived as a statement. This approach has also been adopted by corporate identities. Debranding has become a common tool for building contemporary brands. In 2015, Jesse Reed and Hamish Smyth established the successful project Standard manuals, which reissues standardized logo manuals of large companies. An artifact, whose original purpose was to maintain the integrity of the visual system, now finds its way into the exhibition domestic libraries of collectors or as a fetishized piece of a limited edition at auctions on eBay. The installation will address the development and significance of visual culture, identity, and branding of institutions, redefining the visual language of the exhibition space PRAHA in Brno. Jozef Ondrík_Studied graphic design at Tomas Bata University and Gerrit Rietveld Academie in Amsterdam. He is an unofficial member of the Pixl-e studio and served as art director of the digital agency Nydrle from 2012 to 2013. In 2018, he founded a small independent type foundry called Regular Lines (together with Matěj Vojtuš). He led a type and typography course at VOŠG in Jihlava and briefly worked as an assistant at UMPRUM in Prague (Atelier 304). He constantly seeks new possibilities, overlaps, and functions in the field of design and typography. He currently works in Prague, where he co-founded the Deep Throat studio.
