Long-term tradition has been to present thesis projects only as a showcase in the spaces of our faculty, or at competitive exhibitions of schools and architectural institutions. This year's thesis projects will be presented for the first time outside the home faculty. The exhibition aims to engage a wider audience with its narrative, supplementary program, and installation in a prestigious gallery in the center of Brno. As part of the planned collaboration between the Faculty of Architecture and the Moravian Gallery in Brno, this represents the first significant event beyond exhibition activities. The authors of more than eighty projects and models offer a unique perspective on conceptual, theoretical topics, as well as solutions for real locations in the city. For instance, students worked on designs for a new concept for the Brno Philharmonic, thermal baths in the Swiss town of Yverdon, the area of barracks in Černá Pole as a potential site for a new town hall, the future of housing estates, the potential of railways, and many other themes extending from local sites throughout the Moravian region. The curatorial team supplemented the installation in the Pražák Palace with authored animation films that illustrate the process of creating an architectural project and prepared educational days with an animation program and guided tours for elementary and secondary school students. Participants in the educational programs aimed at elementary and secondary schools, led by educators from the Faculty of Architecture, can explore what architecture is through design, modeling, and even become opponents of individual projects themselves. Our goal is to bring similarly conceived interactive exhibitions closer not only to the professional public but also to representatives of municipal self-governments, educational institutions, and the general public in the future. The prestigious gallery spaces of the Pražák Palace offering architectural projects and a presentation of the creative activity of our faculty are therefore the first step in establishing a partnership and tradition.
