From June 3 to July 1, 2008, the Berlin gallery AEDES hosts an exhibition of the architectural studio A69 - architects, showcasing a selection from their entire body of work. Originally from Cheb, but currently operating primarily in Prague, the studio consists of architects Boris Redčenkov, Prokop Tomášek, and Jaroslav Wertig, along with several collaborators. A69 - architects have been active in the Czech scene since 1994, and over their 14 years of existence, they have created many successful projects of various functions and scales. Among the most notable are the Sanatorium Dr. Peták in Františkovy Lázně, the renovation of English street there, and the new apartment buildings Villa Park Strahov in Prague. The studio consistently engages in designing family homes with a characteristic handwriting, among which House Plot in Cheb, Villa Lea in Františkovy Lázně, and House EggO in Prague stand out as some of the most acclaimed and widely published works of Czech architects both domestically and abroad. The quality of the studio's work is also evidenced by its double nomination for the Czech Republic for the Mies van der Rohe Award - the European Prize for Architecture, or the nomination for the Best Family House of 2007 by the prestigious Wallpaper magazine. However, the exhibition intentionally does not focus solely on the presentation of successful and well-known realizations. The studio members are interested in their own approach to individual projects, identifying starting points and common procedures stemming from their own concept and way of thinking about architecture. Despite each assignment presenting a unique challenge, the A69 - architects exhibition seeks to discover common roots of modern architectural thinking in diverse projects. The exhibition addresses the unveiling of certain "archetypes" and common features in the very essence and fundamental principles of design. Objects considered crucial from this perspective by A69 - architects will be presented at the exhibition. These include not only realized projects but also buildings under construction, competition designs, studies, and concepts. From an artistic perspective, emphasis is placed on presenting the studio's characteristic handwriting - on diagrams and sketches, often in watercolor or another "non-technical" form. The artistic form deliberately emphasizes the abstract level of architectural design while still leaving space for the presentation of original technical solutions of individual projects. A catalog has been published for the exhibition, which can be purchased at the studio's address.
