UCD University is one of the most prestigious universities in Ireland, thanks to its 150-year history. Its campus, where 22,000 students are guided by 1,000 academic staff, is located in a beautiful setting about 4 km south of Dublin. UCD is currently announcing a competition for a development plan and basic architectural concept for the next part of the campus.

The competition is in two stages. The first round is a selection process in which 10 architectural firms will be chosen. These firms must have experience in similar projects (public/commercial buildings and complexes over 20,000 m2). After an oral interview, 3-5 studios will advance to the second round, which will be conducted as an architectural competition.
Questions regarding the competition can be submitted until November 20. Interest in participation must be delivered by December 6; during December, 10 studios will be selected, and the exact conditions for the second round of the competition will be announced. Interviews will take place in January 2007, and the selected architects will then work on their designs. The winning project is expected to be announced in April 2007.
