Pardubice - In the fourth year of the Building of the Year 2010 award for the Pardubice region, architect Přemysl Kokeš scored twice. His villa and bakery were successful. Both buildings are located in Lanškroun in the Orlickoústecko region. A total of 24 buildings competed for awards in four categories, the highest number in the history of the competition so far. Radim Loukota from the Czech Chamber of Authorized Engineers and Technicians (ČKAIT) stated this to ČTK. "All the buildings were at a good level. This year, we were exceptionally pleased with them. The purpose of the competition is to encourage the construction of more quality buildings," said Loukota. The buildings he himself marked as favorites ultimately succeeded in the competition, Loukota added. The studio of Lanškroun architect Přemysl Kokeš succeeded in the category of residential and family houses with a low-energy villa. The jury also awarded first place in the category of buildings for industry, agriculture, and water management to the wood-clad bakery of the Sázava Bakery and Confectionery. The Vinice administrative center in Pardubice won in the category of buildings for civic amenities. This building also succeeded at the national level and became the Building of the Year. In the category of engineering and transport buildings, the judges did not award the main prize. However, they presented a special award to architect Libor Toman for the first phase of the reconstruction of the castle in Pardubice.
