"Sport can change the world. It can unite people like little else."
Nelson Mandela
The Commonwealth Associations of Architects is organizing the seventh edition of the international student competition. This year's theme is the design of a small sports facility intended for underprivileged children. Participants can choose the location where the facility will be situated (city/countryside), with the relationship to the context of the place being one of the evaluation criteria. A large facility is not expected, but one that would cater to a wide spectrum of the population. The center should play a significant social role. The design can be inspired by a famous athlete or a particular sport. Designs adjusted to a maximum of two A1 formats with a short description must be submitted to the organizer by November 10, 2006. The winner will receive £2,000, and the design will be published in The Architectural Review. For the next two successful proposals, £800 and £400 are prepared. Any prize will be increased by an additional £200 if the authors form a group of students from various fields, and £200 is reserved for the best design whose author is studying in the first or second year.
