The Jaroš/Gonzalez studio is a new product design studio. The intention of the studio is to establish closer collaboration with the domestic industry, to seek out and process authentic technologies typical for the Central European region. To search for and create new paths for collaboration between manufacturers and designers based on specific technologies and manufacturing traditions.
Jury Evaluation
— The studios differed quite a lot in terms of the tasks and results. The studio of Jan Jaroš left the most comprehensive impression on me. The assignment was very clear here, and the quality outputs could be compared with each other. It was purely industrial design.
Anna Marešová
— This studio appealed to me the most. Particularly because there was not only a very good assignment, but also the results of the work themselves. The practical assignment on the topic of cookers was addressed in a very interesting way. Good process and thinking can be seen here. The work was mostly very good. The execution of the models was also well managed, except for a few exceptions. It is clear that there was some thoughtful consideration of this topic. In my opinion, good communication took place between the client, the students, and the head of the studio.
Jan Dědek
— It is evident that Jan Jaroš follows the approach of Mr. Apple. This studio excelled in very good craftsmanship, quality models, and connection to real production. The level was relatively balanced, and some works turned out very well. However, in many cases, there is a feeling that the focus was solely on form – shaping at any cost. I miss the consideration of the usage of the product, defining who I am actually doing this for and why? It could be developed into a broader context. Yes, almost all works could start being produced tomorrow, but only a few retained the original concept, if there was any at all. For some students, the focus on manufacturability criteria overshadowed any innovation.
