Prague - The winner of the first year of the Czech-Slovak competition for the most beautiful energy-efficient buildings, the Building Efficiency Awards 2012, in the category of family houses, is the building in Vonoklasy near Prague. Among apartment buildings, the Pod Altánem apartment villa in the Prague district of Strašnice was the winner. The competition organizers announced this today.
"An energy-efficient and environmentally friendly house down to the smallest details, which also looks really good," evaluated the winning family house architect Bořek Šípek, a member of the expert jury of the competition.
In the category of non-residential buildings, the most attention was drawn by the administrative building named Otazník in Ostrava. "Personally, I appreciate the excellent indoor climate and the aesthetic design of the interior providing above-standard conditions for the people working in it," commented the building another jury member, Veronika Kotradyová from the Slovak University of Technology in Bratislava.
In the category of reconstructed buildings, the Gynecological and Obstetric Center of KOCH Hospital in Bratislava won. Among wooden buildings, a low-energy weekend house in Nosice in the Trenčín region was dominant.
A total of 141 buildings and 24 student projects from the Czech Republic and Slovakia entered the first edition of the Building Efficiency Awards.
