The city of Planá nad Lužnicí announces an architectural competition for the design of the riverbank of the Lužnice River. The riverbank is located in close connection to the city center, which will be revitalized according to the winning design of the architectural competition that took place at the turn of 2013/2014. The area being addressed is the right bank of the Lužnice River, approximately 800m long, where flood protection measures have been implemented and a path for pedestrians and cyclists has been established. The aim of the competition is to obtain an architectural design for furniture, plantings, and elements that will integrate the riverbank into the public space of the city and highlight its recreational potential. The Planá riverbank should be a pleasant promenade for the leisure time of residents and visitors to the city. The line of the riverbank should create a calm counterpoint to the busy thoroughfare running through the city center and allow for recreational use and relaxation within the city.
The competition is announced as a project-based, public, and single-round competition. The deadline for submission of competition proposals is set for February 20, 2015. The professional part of the competition jury will include architects Martin Kraus, Štěpán Špoula, Eva Hubičková, and Mirek Vodák.
The competition conditions and materials are available for download on the website of the city of Planá nad Lužnicí. The competition has been approved by the Czech Chamber of Architects as regular and is also published on its website.
