Biography
Michael Obrist is an Austrian architect of Italian descent. He was born in 1972 in Bolzano, Italy. He studied at the Technical University of Vienna and the University of Portsmouth in England. In 2002, he founded the studio feld72 in Vienna with four other architects (Anne Catherine Fleith, Mario Paintner, Richard Scheich, Peter Zoderer), which today consists of a team of 35 professionals participating in international exhibitions. From 2013 to 2018, he served as a visiting professor at the University of Art in Linz. From 2016 to 2018, he taught "urbanism theory" at the Department of Urbanism at the Technical University of Graz. From 2015 to 2016, he was a professor in the master class for public space at the Salzburg Summer Academy. In 2015, he was a professor at the guest school Architectural Association in Slovenia. From 2003 to 2011, he taught "Conceptual Architectural Strategies" at the University of Art in Linz. From 2013 to 2016, he lectured on housing and urbanism at TU Wien.
