Sport has entertained humanity since the dawn of its existence. From ancient centuries, only few monuments to the sporting past have survived in Prague. A greater number of sports facilities began to appear only with the advent of modern times. These are primarily gymnasiums, which you can find in almost every larger Czech city. But what does the construction of new sports facilities look like, and do we have enough of them? Can old buildings be adapted to new purposes and the demands of contemporary times? The presentation connected with a panel discussion will open a range of topics related to the history and future of sports facilities.

Short presentations:
Kateřina Pohlová (introduction: Sokol past), historian and executive of the Educational Department of the Czech Sokol Organization;
Jakub Potůček (contemporary presence), art historian focused on Czech modern architecture of the first half of the 20th century;
Lenka Burgerová (future and current issues), architect, historian, deputy mayor of Prague 7.

In the panel discussion:
Karolína Jirkalová, journalist, critic and editor focused on architecture.
