District Prague 3 announces a competition for a proposal to revitalize Jiří z Lobkovic Square. The aim is to find a team with the most suitable approach to its restoration in all architectural, landscape, transport, and technical contexts and at the same time propose solutions that will enable its everyday practical use by residents from the wider surroundings. “The city has long been receiving feedback from local residents about the unsatisfactory state of the square and park. In particular, we want the place to better meet the needs of local residents and the many children in the area,” says the chairman of the municipal committee for spatial development Matěj Michalk Žaloudek, adding: “The architectural competition will allow us to choose from many possible solutions. We believe that the competition will attract architectural studios and that we will receive a diverse range of options. A quality expert jury will then select the most suitable one. Our goal is subsequently to sign a contract with the winner for the development of a complete project and to implement it.” The competition is being announced as open, anonymous, and in a single phase. Competition proposals will be submitted at the end of September and will be evaluated by a jury composed of representatives of the municipal district and independent experts. The municipal district collaborated with the Czech Chamber of Architects (ČKA) and the CBArchitektura organization, which has been dedicated to competitions for a long time, in preparing the competition. The design competition is recommended by the professional public as the best and most transparent way to assign a project for a public building. The chair of the expert jury will be architect Ivan Plicka, along with architect Petr Velička and landscape architects Martina Forejtová and Štěpánka Šmídová, as well as mayor Jiří Ptáček. Total rewards are set according to the competition rules of ČKA at 750,000 CZK. The deadline for submitting proposals is September 30, 2020, and the results of the competition are expected to be presented to the public during October. The competition conditions are available on the contracting authority's profile in the public procurement bulletin.
