The small villa was built in 1914 as part of the concept of the third stage of the extensive design of residential and family houses in Liebieg's town from 1911-1914. Its author is architect Jakob Schmeissner. It is the smallest house in the upper part of the colony and was probably intended for the needs of a gardener or caretaker.
The cottage is located in the center of the plot, shaped like a drop. Its central placement ensures maximum possible privacy within the interior spaces of the building; however, due to its encirclement by pathways, it does not provide much privacy outside in the garden.
The basis of the concept was a return of the house to its original solitary position on the plot, which was disrupted by the addition of a garage in the 1990s. The garage was removed, and a new symmetrical extension was added to the west side of the cottage. The wing of the extension stretches across the entire width of the plot and utilizes it fully, yet its mass is unobtrusive, contextual, and nearly invisible from the street. This is also aided by the slight slant of the extension's walls at an angle, which thus strengthens the position of the main mass of the original house.
The garden is divided into two parts by the new extension—the western part will gain privacy due to the embrace of the extension's wing. Access to the house and the path around it will be paved with stone slabs made of local granite, and the terrace will be laid with larch boards.
In designing the modifications to the house, the characteristic features of the historical cottage were delineated and emphasized—the original beaver tail tiles were returned to the gable roof, the casement windows were replaced with replicas due to their poor condition, and fitted with slatted shutters typical of Schmeissner's style; disproportionate dormers with triangular windows were replaced with more symmetrical ones.
