The childcare centre building takes advantage of the natural slope of the neighbouring kindergarten’s garden and is sensitively integrated into the terrain. It is a timber-frame structure with larch board cladding and an extensive green roof featuring large-format skylights. A spacious west-facing terrace extends the centre’s activity space. The windows and external doors are timber-aluminium, with spruce on the interior and a RAL 7001 finish on the exterior. A band of windows facing the terrace and the roof skylights bring abundant natural light into the space.

The interior design pays particular attention to detail, natural materials and a palette of warm, uplifting colours. The designers sought to create a bright and welcoming environment. RAL 1012 was chosen as the central colour. Yellow brings energy, joy and a positive atmosphere to the space, encouraging creativity and the healthy development of children’s potential. It is used for the Marmoleum flooring, steel tension rods and upholstered benches in the window recesses, among other elements.

The furniture is custom-made from birch wood. A key design principle is to position built-in furniture, the wall storage system and the seating staircase with integrated storage exclusively along the sides of the classroom. This approach allows all other elements, such as tables, chairs and mobile drawer units, to be easily removed. A circular motif unifies the interior, recurring in round windows, openings between rooms and details of furnishings such as tables, mirrors and light fixtures.

From the main entrance to the site, the building is accessed through the cloakroom. Two playrooms form the childcare centre’s main activity space. A large seating staircase connects the interior to the outdoor terrace. The bathrooms are visually connected to the playrooms through circular viewing panels in the doors and a large window. White 10 x 10 cm tiles and slip-resistant Marmoleum create a bright and safe environment. Low-mounted washbasins and toilets are easy for children aged one to three to use. The rest of the building accommodates support facilities, including a kitchen, offices, staff washrooms and a plant room.
