Biography
Toshikatsu Kiuchi graduated in 2004 from the Department of Architecture at the University of Tokyo and subsequently gained work experience at the New York office of Diller Scofidio + Renfro (2005-07) and the Paris office of R&Sie(n) (2007-11). In 2012, he founded his own architectural studio, Toshikatsu Kiuchi Architects. From 2015 to 2018, he served as a lecturer in architecture at the University of Tokyo. Since 2022, he has been an associate professor at the Future Design Engineering Organization at the Kyoto Institute of Technology.
Together with Taichi Sunayama, he leads the studio SUNAKI Inc., which integrates experimentation with practice and strives for a critical yet practical integration of new digital technologies, tacit knowledge of materials, and craftsmanship techniques.
