Prostějov - At the municipal cemetery in the southern outskirts of Prostějov, part of the perimeter wall collapsed at the end of May, which surrounds this immovable cultural monument founded in 1900. The town hall is preparing to repair the wall and will collaborate with heritage conservators. The financial costs have not yet been quantified. Jiří Rozehnal (ANO), the mayor's deputy, informed ČTK.

The perimeter wall of the municipal cemetery on Brněnská street is made of bricks, with a stone base forming the lower part. A 15-meter section of the wall has collapsed. Experts have identified the age of the wall as a likely cause, which has adversely affected its stability. The Department of Development and Investments will prepare project documentation that will outline the stages of constructing a new wall. "Everything will be consulted with heritage conservators, as the cemetery as a whole is an immovable cultural monument," noted Rozehnal.

The municipal cemetery in Prostějov was founded in 1900 on Brněnská street on the southern edge of the city. Notable figures buried there include poet Jiří Wolker, scientist and inventor Otto Wichterle, and composers František Neumann and Vladimír Ambros. According to experts, the cemetery was established with an extraordinary park composition for its time, featuring dozens of trees, shrubs, and herbs along the paths, including unusual and exotic species.
