Autodesk introduces the latest version of its application suite for industrial design to the Czech market
Product lines 2009 solutions AliasStudio and Showcase offer a significant increase in productivity, more perfect modeling, and more efficient presentation.
Prague – Autodesk, the world leader in 2D and 3D design software for manufacturing, construction, media, and entertainment, has introduced Autodesk AliasStudio 2009 and Autodesk Showcase 2009 to the Czech market. AliasStudio is the latest version of the AliasStudio product line, which provides a set of tools for industrial design processes, while Showcase helps users create accurate, highly realistic representations from 3D CAD data, enabling informed decisions about digital prototypes.
The application Autodesk AliasStudio 2009 helps companies create higher quality designs faster and enables designers to digitally capture their ideas from initial sketches to 3D conceptual models. Starting with integrated drawing tools and ending with enhanced modeling and reverse engineering features, AliasStudio products address the unique creative demands of the entire product and vehicle design process. The new version of Autodesk Showcase 2009 makes it easier than ever to present and revise designs for product decision-making and presentation thanks to innovative ambient shading features and an expanded library of realistic materials. Showcase gathers data from various 3D sources, including Autodesk Inventor. “Autodesk AliasStudio is arguably the most prestigious design software tool today - for instance, 99% of studios preparing conceptual designs for the automotive industry currently use AliasStudio,” says Michal Jelínek, Senior Design Consultant at Autodesk. “However, the use of AliasStudio is not limited to the automotive industry; it easily creates concepts in the consumer goods segment as well. In the case of the consumer segment, while creating a conceptual model is less data-intensive, time is critical – consumer goods must be brought to market quickly. And again, the advantage of AliasStudio software is that it provides the necessary speed and quality.”
The new versions of AliasStudio and Showcase products help companies facing the following challenges:
To maintain a competitive edge, new designs must be continuously developed;
During the technology development phase, undesirable changes or loss of design intent occur;
Transitions between different software applications disrupt design workflows;
Waiting for design approvals delays projects;
Difficult collaboration among design and engineering teams in the area of 3D data.
The solutions Autodesk provides for conceptual design are fully aligned with the approach of digital prototyping, which strengthens manufacturers' competitive advantages. “Manufacturers are adopting digital prototyping as a way to keep up with market trends, cope with the growing demand for appealing styling of consumer goods, and the necessity to bring products to market faster.” says analyst Gisela Wilson, Director of Product, Project, and Portfolio Management Solutions at IDC, which recently released a report on the competitive advantages of digital prototyping for contemporary manufacturing. “Additionally, designers can test a large number of design variations since they can realize designs much faster than with physical prototypes.”
The report emphasizes Autodesk's strong competitive position in the digital prototyping solution market, which Autodesk has gained through its comprehensive and continually evolving product portfolio. “Autodesk has all the prerequisites to be a clear leader in the field of digital prototyping – from industrial design and high-end visualizations to manufacturing – with its broad offering of products for designing new products, development, and data management,” adds Gisela Wilson.
About Autodesk Autodesk is the world leader in 2D and 3D design software for manufacturing, construction, media, and entertainment. Since the introduction of AutoCAD in 1982, Autodesk has developed the widest portfolio of leading digital prototyping solutions that help customers practically test ideas before realization. Fortune 1000 companies use Autodesk tools to visualize, simulate, and analyze the real-world performance of their designs already in the early stages of development, helping them save time and money, improve quality, and foster innovation.
