Jindřich Vybíral studied Czech studies, history, and art history at universities in Ostrava, Brno, and London. He worked at the Faculty of Education in Ostrava (1986-1989) and at the National Gallery in Prague (1989-1997). Since 1996, he has been teaching at the AAAD (Academy of Art, Architecture and Design) in Prague. From 1997 to 2002, he was the vice-rector of AAAD. He has published several studies and books on 19th and 20th-century architecture, including The Birth of a Metropolis (1997, 2003), The Century of Heirs and Founders (1999), Czech Architecture on the Threshold of Modernity (2002), Young Masters (2002, German edition 2007), and Famous Villas of the Moravian-Silesian Region (2008).
