Hotel Metropol in Prague - National Technical Library in Dejvice - Graphic System Prague-Roztyly - Doors to the church in Napajedla - Brno-Údolní 53 - and others
The closing evening of the spring lecture cycle on the topic of Architecture and Art in Public Space will draw attention to the possibilities of an aesthetic approach to shaping facades and interiors of buildings.
Facade. The interface between the object and its surroundings, the main means of communication between them. The part of the building that a person perceives first and often as the only one. The part of the building that fundamentally shapes the relationship between the person and the particular structure. An ideal space for creating the building's unique identity. A space for the use of artistic means, a place for collaboration between artists and architects. The use of expressive means from facades in interiors, designs of the overall graphic concept of the building.
The lecture evening will present contemporary examples of shaping facades and interiors - graphic solutions, the use of classic materials in original placements, the connection between architecture and fine art, etc. A wide spectrum of the influence of fine art in architecture will be illustrated by the lecture of painter Petr Kvíčala, the author of numerous realizations both in our country (Brno-theater Reduta) and abroad (Switzerland, Germany, Spain). Another example of aesthetic facade design will be presented by Jan Mackovič. Zbyněk Baladrán and the studio FAM architects, who collaborated on the design of school buildings in the VUT campus in Brno, will also speak on the collaboration between architects and visual artists. The realization for the church in Napajedla by the Zlín studio Ellement will highlight creative work at the intersection of architecture and design. During the evening, recently completed realizations and upcoming proposals will be presented - Petr Babák, head of the Graphic Design and New Media studio at the Academy of Art, Architecture and Design in Prague, will showcase the visual style of Hotel Metropol and the National Technical Library. We will also look at examples from the past - one of the first uses of graphics in panel housing estates in Prague's Roztyly will be shown by Vítězslava Rothbauerová.
Lectures are held at Galerie Tranzitdisplay, Dittrichova 9/337, Prague 2. For more information, visit www.kruh.info, www.tranzitdisplay.cz. Due to high interest, a special screening will be added in another room of the gallery.
