The winter stadium in Rožnov welcomed the first skaters after the renovation

Zlín - About a hundred enthusiasts took advantage of a unique opportunity on Friday and participated in the first public skating at the newly covered ice rink in Rožnov pod Radhoštěm in the Vsetín region. The city began renovations in October two years ago. The investment amounted to approximately 40 million crowns, with 37 million spent on the roofing alone, and the remaining funds for ancillary investments. Lenka Vičarová, a city councilor, told ČTK this.
    "The money for the roofing was released by the city from its budget," said Jindřich Žák, the managing director of the company that operates the ice rink in Rožnov, to ČTK.
    In addition to the roofing of the stadium, which workers completed in December, other parts of the building also needed repairs before operations could begin. Workers reinforced areas at the entrances, renovated sanitary facilities, installed modern fire-safety equipment, air conditioning, protective nets, and glass in the hall.
    The operator of the hall anticipates that interested parties will be able to come for skating every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. Additionally, groups of people, not just from the public but also whole schools or interest organizations, can reserve the ice surface at a pre-arranged time.
