Strašice - The Military Forests and Estates of the Czech Republic (VLS) will reconstruct the hunting lodge Tři trubky in the Brdy region, which falls under the Rokycany district. Together with the Agency for Nature Conservation and Landscape Protection of the Czech Republic, they will establish a visitor and information center for tourists for the entire Brdy area. Additionally, there will be a forest pedagogy center for children, a natural house with educational elements and gardens, a multifunctional hall, and a parking lot. The costs will certainly reach tens of millions of crowns, said VLS spokesman Jan Sotona.
The reconstruction of the building alone will be expensive, as it has not undergone any significant renewal for a long time and needs it. "A project is being prepared, as it will be a large-scale operation, so we are also looking for grant titles and want to utilize funds from the structural funds," said Sotona.
The lodge, which was declared a cultural monument by the Ministry of Culture in 2014, was acquired by VLS in 2016 after the cancellation of the Military District of Brdy and the establishment of the Brdy Protected Landscape Area. Until then, it served as a training center for soldiers. In the 1880s, it was built by Prince Jeroným Colloredo-Mannsfeld, who owned this part of Brdy along with the estates of Dobříš and Zbiroh. The building was designed by the Vienna-born architect of Italian descent, Camillo Sita, in the spirit of waning Romanticism.
After the government established the Military District of Brdy in 1926, the building became a popular resting place for military commanders and politicians; in the 1930s, Tomáš Garrique Masaryk and Edvard Beneš also visited. During the German occupation, Field Marshal Walther von Brauchitsch stayed there. After 1948, it served as accommodation for generals, officers, and politicians, regularly welcoming representatives of the Warsaw Pact. This is why it has been maintained in good condition.
Tourists can reach the lodge near the confluence of the Třítrubecký and Padrťský streams by heading from Valdek towards Strašice, where the road curves to the right into the forests in the village.
According to Sotona, visitors can only access the Brdy area by car with a permit, which is issued by VLS and countersigned by the Administration of the Brdy Protected Landscape Area, based in Jince. "The (planned) parking lot at Tři trubky will have limited capacity. It will mainly serve buses, for trips with children, and similar activities," said spokesman Sotona. These vehicles will have an exemption. The nearby Strašice has already built a parking lot on the edge of the village and plans to construct more.
