Water attractions at the swimming pool in Žďár will be brown

Žďár nad Sázavou - During the construction of the summer aquapark near the Pilská reservoir in Žďár nad Sázavou, the investor will have to respect the landscape character, as the area encroaches on the Protected Landscape Area (PLA) Žďárské vrchy and is within the protective zone of the UNESCO monument Zelené hory. The flume of the toboggan and the edges of the slides must therefore be dark brown, and the supporting columns must be in a shade of dove gray. The height of the toboggan must not exceed 8.5 meters. This follows from an announcement published on the internet as part of the environmental impact assessment (EIA).
    The city, with nearly 24,000 inhabitants, wants to build a swimming pool for a maximum of 1,335 visitors on an area of over 36,000 square meters on the left bank of the reservoir. It will be located 3.5 kilometers from the center. It will include a recreational pool with water attractions covering an area of 235 square meters, as well as a swimming pool and a children's pool and the necessary technical facilities. The swimming pool will be built on city-owned land in accordance with the zoning plan.
    The potential heating of the water in the pools will be provided by a connection to a solar absorber located on the roof of the operational building. In the area, there are only 20 to 30 summer days per year, and the average temperature in July ranges between 16 and 17 degrees Celsius.
    According to the announcement, construction is expected to start next March and be completed in June 2009. Mayor Jaromír Brychta has stated that the swimming pool should serve for recreation already in the next summer season. The estimated construction period is 16 months, with the removal of topsoil expected to take up to two months.
    No significant biotopes have been identified at the construction site, and the nearest natural monument, Louky u Černého lesa, is located one kilometer from the future swimming pool. Therefore, the most discussed topic among people is likely to be the color of the water attractions. The fence is also expected to be dark brown, and it must not contain any advertisements.
    The investment will cost the city approximately 80 million crowns. The council initially wanted to build an aquapark with year-round operation outside the city. However, some residents did not consider this economical.
