Prague - Only one applicant has submitted a bid for the rental of the so-called Werich Villa on Kampa in Prague 1. The offer comes from Meda Mládková, the founder of the Kampa Museum, said Alexandr Koráb, spokesperson for the city council of the first district. Interested parties could apply for the competition until today. Now, according to Koráb, a commission will be appointed to assess whether the offer meets the conditions. Mládková will then defend her project at a public hearing, the spokesperson noted. According to the conditions of the competition, the decisive factor will be the use of the building, while the amount of rent will carry less weight. The city council wants the villa to come to life and to honor the legacy of the personalities who lived there. In addition to the actor Jan Werich, these include the poet Vladimír Holan and historian and linguist Josef Dobrovský. The previous competition took place two years ago. The Colly company won the bidding process. However, the city council had to cancel the competition because it was not in accordance with the current version of the public procurement law. The selection of the Colly company faced numerous critics, including the then unsuccessful applicant Meda Mládková and her Museum Kampa. The city council justified its decision by stating that Colly's offer was more advantageous. The second competition was supposed to take place last June, but the council canceled it after a week. The villa, which was damaged by flooding in August 2002, has been partially repaired by the city council to prevent it from deteriorating. The interior modifications are to be carried out by the tenant.
