Kadaň (Chomutovsko) - The North Bohemian town of Kadaň will no longer offer the listed building in the center of the town for purchase. The town hall has been trying to sell the property for four years, but no interested buyers have come forward. The building is practically unusable for commercial purposes, so the town will complete its renovation and establish a regional information center within it, said Mayor Jiří Kulhánek (ODS) to reporters today.

The building with compromised statics has had several owners, yet it continued to deteriorate. Therefore, the town purchased it in 2002 and began renovations. "So far, we have spent about six million crowns on the reconstruction, with a third of that amount coming from a grant from the Ministry of Culture. I estimate that further urgent investments will amount to 11 million crowns," Kulhánek stated.
After consulting with heritage conservationists, the town commissioned a project for the reconstruction and structural modifications of the interiors for multipurpose use.
"The information center will move from its current premises below the town hall. The building will also feature a bicycle rental service, public restrooms, an exhibition room for tourism, a gallery, and also offices," added the mayor.
