Brno - A biotechnology park will be established in Brno in about two years for approximately 400 million crowns. The project received a grant of 257 million crowns from the Ministry of Industry and Trade. The remaining part of the funds will be covered by the company Biology Park Brno, its director Petr Kostík said today to ČTK. According to Kostík, the estimated price of the project is currently only an estimate. "The final price will come from the tender," he stated. The biotechnology park and business incubator Biology Park Brno will expand and complement the area of the Masaryk University campus in Brno-Bohunice. It will build on the existing biomedical incubator of the South Moravian Region INBIT, the Integrated Laboratories of Biomedical Technologies Pavilion ILBIT, or the Central European Institute of Technology CEITEC. The biotechnology park will have equipped chemical and biotechnology laboratories at various levels of environmental cleanliness, office spaces, and presentation areas. The spaces will be rented out to companies in the field. "We emphasize future close cooperation between representatives of the business and academic environment, of which the very implementation of the Biology Park Brno project is proof, but also the ongoing construction of the Brno Science and Technology Park in cooperation with the Brno University of Technology," Kostík stated. The company Biology Park Brno was established in 1991. Since last year, it has been a joint-stock company. Its only shareholder is the South Moravian Chamber of Commerce.
