In Brno, a water world will be created for a quarter of a billion, the city will support the pool

Brno - The Water World, which is expected to cost between 200 to 250 million crowns, will be built in the eastern part of Brno by the development and engineering company Avrio Invest. The facility, which will include a swimming pool and wellness center, is expected to be completed in 2021, wrote Marek Vinter, the company's chairman, to ČTK. The city will either give the investor a one-time support for the pool or will provide annual subsidies for the operation of the pool.

The Water World is to be located on Šedova Street. It should have a swimming pool, outdoor thermal pools, wellness facilities, and a parking garage, Vinter listed. According to him, the preliminary budget is 200 to 250 million with an anticipated completion in 2021. The parking lot is expected to have 140 parking spaces.

The city welcomes the construction of the Water World and wants to support the operation of the pool, which should be 25 meters long. "There is interest from the city to support the investor either with a one-time amount of 20 million crowns for the investment or then operationally for several years with a two-million subsidy to compensate for losses related to the operation of the pool," said Petr Hladík, the mayor's deputy (KDU-ČSL).

He added that the city wants to use the pool for sports activities and children’s swimming. In recent years, Brno has been planning investments in swimming pools. For example, near the City Swimming Stadium Lužánky, it wants to build a wellness center and also a 25-meter pool, while currently there is a 50-meter pool. Additionally, there are plans to insulate the pool at Ponávka. Funds are also intended for the reconstruction of school pools at ZŠ and MŠ Pastviny and at ZŠ Arménská.

In Brno, there is only one aquapark in Kohoutovice. The large sauna world is offered by the Infinit Maximus resort. People can also go for recreation to smaller saunas, such as in the Rašínova Spa.
