In Brno, the Bronzo Hotel has been opened

 

"We discovered the house almost by accident after nearly 5 years of searching, and after the first tour, my wife, children, and I completely fell in love with the building. Although the original condition of the building was quite sad from its socialist usage and the garden resembled a jungle from Jumanji, we knew we were in the right place and had to restore and preserve as many original elements of the house as possible for future generations. For most, it's inexplicable; for us, it's a huge challenge and trust in the result that an ugly duckling will turn into a beautiful swan. We are thrilled that the project, with the immense help of architect Marek Štěpán and his studio, has succeeded, and we can present to the people of Brno the bronze house in its fresh beauty not only from the street," says Josef Blaštík. At a time when some houses on Hlinky were really being demolished, we believe it's better to maintain and reconstruct the building. Therefore, this house retains many original structures, including the cellars. In addition to Atelier Štěpán, the Kogaa studio also worked on the design in the initial phase. The building has origins in the 18th century, with the first preserved mention from 1710. The house served, like most houses on Hlinky, for winemaking purposes. With the development of the street and neighborhood, the house was enlarged and remodeled. Most recently, in the 1970s, it was adapted for office purposes. The result was a peculiar, not entirely functional labyrinth and web of rooms. It has now been transformed into contemporary and meaningful hotel architecture that responds to the original genius loci. The facade with a French touch of the mansard and exterior shutters is in one warm sandy bronze shade. This is also reflected in some areas of the interior.

Hotel Bronzo offers guests comfortable boutique accommodation, communal spaces with curated selections of artworks, and intimate spaces for local workshops, meetings, and events. The project emphasizes sustainable solutions, the use of quality materials, and support for local artists and craftsmen. You can see classic lime coatings with the brushstrokes of the painter as well as translucent recycled plastics. From the upper floors, one can see the beautiful dome of the Brno exhibition grounds. On this day, students from the Faculty of Architecture also visited the hotel.
