Ústí nad Labem – Ústí nad Labem will have a city architect. The city council today approved the establishment of the city's architecture office (KAM). In the first year, it is expected to have six employees led by a director - the city architect. Ústí is planning a budget of seven million crowns for the first year, which is expected to increase to 27 million crowns in 2023.
The proposer of the initiative, Jan Hrouda (PRO!Ústí), stated that the architect's office will also contribute to a positive media image of the city. However, some council members opposed the establishment of KAM as a contributory organization.
Similar offices exist, for example, in Brno, Olomouc, and Hradec Králové. Architects assist municipalities with the renovation of old buildings as well as with the designs of new homes.
