Uherské Hradiště - Uherské Hradiště has completed the reconstruction of the cinema Hvězda. In the final stage of the work, the basement of the building was renovated, where a smaller screening room and a bar were created, which will also be able to operate as a disco. The costs amounted to 11.581 million crowns, including VAT. The council has also selected a tenant for the newly reconstructed spaces, which should be operational before the start of this year's Summer Film School. Deputy Mayor Stanislav Blaha (ODS) told journalists today. "In the coming days, the commissioning of these spaces will take place. The city council has already decided who will use them. From two offers, it selected the higher one. Specifically, it concerns an amount of 732,000 crowns per year excluding VAT. The purpose should be to operate a bar and also a non-smoking café on the first floor of the building, which is entirely in line with our intention," described Blaha, adding that the tenant will also cooperate with the City Cinemas. The screening room will be available for screenings for smaller groups of film enthusiasts a maximum of eight times a month. The city began the renovation of the Hvězda cinema in 2009. The first phase of the work secured the outdoor terraces and access stairs and cost 14 million crowns. Last summer, the second phase was completed, which included, among other things, the modification of the screening room for multifunctional use and its equipping with 3D technology. The screening room now has 348 seats, of which 252 are equipped with folding tables for lectures and conferences. Before the renovation, Hvězda cinema had 424 seats. The foyer areas have been changed, and the exterior respirium intended for small cultural events was restored on the vault of the cinema. The local offices were also renovated. In the backstage area, a dressing room for performers was built, which also serves as a room for translators. The second phase of the work cost around 40 million crowns. Finally, the basement of the building was addressed, where the previous tenant operated a disco known as the Barziko club. Uherskohradišťsko was, in the 1950s, the last district without a widescreen screen in the then South Moravian Region. The Hvězda cinema was officially opened on October 6, 1967, with the screening of the film Marketa Lazarová by František Vláčil. The project cost 5.5 million crowns and gradually became the center of film activities in the region.
