On Saturday, September 21, the exhibition - Gallery Trail came to an end. Negrelli Viaduct came alive with culture. The goal of the organizers, the Center for Central European Architecture (CCEA, www.ccea.cz), was to draw attention to the neglected space around such an important building – the second oldest bridge in Prague and to initiate discussions about the use of the arches in the upcoming reconstruction.

The project was positively received by the residents of Karlín. There is already an experiment taking place here, under the arches, there is a public book exchange and a stage. If you have a book you no longer need or if you would like to have a new book at home, come and use the book exchange under the viaduct. Right next to the library, opposite the musical instrument store, there is a new wooden stage under the arch, which can serve various cultural activities for the residents of Karlín or just for sitting. We are curious to see how this attempt to revitalize public space will work.

Currently, CCEA will present the project at the City of Prague Hall and will seek to create an overall strategy for the Transformation of Negrelli Viaduct. At the same time, the results of the architectural workshop, which took place concurrently under the guidance of architects Patrik Hoffman (atelier Hoffman) and Petr Lešek (Projektil) at Archip, will serve as the basis.

We plan to organize another edition next year, in which galleries from outside Prague should be presented. The next edition will reflect the preparatory process of transforming the Negrelli Viaduct to the public. We hope that we will soon be able to form a working group composed of the directly affected institutions and entities around the viaduct.
