Prague - The largest telecommunications operator Telefónica O2 has changed its headquarters. Approximately 1500 employees of the company have mostly moved from the Žižkov headquarters and various locations in Prague to a new headquarters located in the recently completed Gamma building of the BB Center in Pankrác near the D1 highway. The spokesperson Martin Žabka told ČTK.
"By the end of the month, the vast majority of employees will be in the new headquarters," Žabka added, stating that the relocation of workers began last month.
Before privatization, the company initially considered building a new facility in close proximity to its existing Žižkov headquarters but ultimately opted to rent space from Passerinvest. The mobile division of Telefónica, previously Eurotel, is already located in another part of the BB Center. Other companies in the area include ČEZ, Hewlett-Packard, and Microsoft. Employees of the companies are transported from the metro via a free shuttle bus.
The new headquarters of Telefónica has three underground and ten above-ground floors. The company occupies approximately 30,000 square meters, primarily of office space. It also includes underground parking for about 500 cars.
On Olšanská Street in Prague’s Žižkov, the company will retain only the dominant building of the international telephone exchange and will sell the other properties. Telefónica still plans to sell around 400 unnecessary properties worth up to nine billion crowns. The company is advised by Erste Corporate Finance and Knight Frank during the sale. At the end of April, the advisor was to obtain indicative offers for the first phase of the sale, but the company did not disclose the details.
