The conference is held in collaboration with the National Gallery in Prague and with the support of the Embassy of the Netherlands.
DUTCH LADIES ARCHITECTURE A DIFFERENT VIEW / ARCHITECTURE DIFFERENTLY
The DUTCH LADIES project will present to the Czech public, professionals, and students a group of contemporary Dutch female architects, some of whom are already among the international elite, and others who will soon join them. During the spring of 2007, eight of them will be introduced at the Faculty of Architecture CTU and the Trade Fair Palace:
The DUTCH LADIES project aims to SHOW the Czech public, professionals, and students the high level of work by Dutch female architects while also HIGHLIGHTING the insufficient representation of Czech female architects in the domestic scene. It should MOTIVATE Czech female architecture students during their studies not to be afraid to step out of the shadow of their colleagues and to actively PARTICIPATE in their profession, just as Dutch female architects have been doing for several years.
A/ In the first phase of the project, six of the total eight Dutch female architects will present lectures as part of a publicly accessible INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE organized by the Faculty of Architecture CTU in collaboration with the National Gallery in Prague on the topic
FROM BRIEF TO URBAN LANDSCAPE / FROM ASSIGNMENT TO URBAN LANDSCAPE
The conference will take place on January 31, 2007, at 2:00 PM in the ART minus cinema hall, Trade Fair Palace.
More detailed information about the conference can be found on the website www.fa.cvut.cz.
B/ C/ The real core of the project will be two WORKSHOPS of architects with students from the Faculty of Architecture CTU, which will take place in March and May 2007. About 60 Czech students from the 2nd to 5th year of study will participate in these intensive working meetings. The DUTCH LADIES project will conclude in July 2007 with a final PRESENTATION of the students' work.
The Czech partners of the Dutch architects will be throughout the project architects Ivan Kroupa, Roman Koucký, Petr Suske, Ján Stempel, Jan Šépka, Petr Hájek, Zdeněk Zavřel, Hana Seho and Josef Mádr, who lead six studios of architectural creation at the Faculty of Architecture CTU.
