PRAGUE - The ground floor of the functionalist Glass Palace in Freedom Square in Prague 6 is set for renovation. The Dejvice City Hall has allocated 42 million crowns for this work in this year's budget. The reconstruction of the spaces, which also includes a wedding hall, is expected to begin in the spring. Wedding ceremonies will temporarily take place at the Pellé Villa, city hall spokesman Martin Šalek informed ČTK. The shops on the ground floor of the palace have been empty since last autumn. After the renovation, the layout will change. A café in the functionalist style will be established in the area where the wedding hall currently is. There will be two shops. "We have selected offers related to weddings. There will be a florist and a wine shop," said Deputy Mayor Marie Kousalíková. In the right part of the ground floor, a new ceremony hall will replace the shops. The external appearance of the storefronts will, according to Šalek, be preserved. The entrance hall and ground floor corridors will also be renovated. According to plans from the Dejvice City Hall, there should be an information office with an exhibition on functionalist architecture in Prague 6 on the ground floor of the palace, Šalek added.
