Brno, July 1 (CTK) - Two representatives of a development company from the Brno area have been in custody since Sunday, suspected of frauds amounting to over 17 million crowns. CTK previously reported that the company promised the construction of family houses, but did not complete the plans for 26 projects. The company’s representatives are now facing up to 12 years in prison. They were placed in custody to prevent them from evading prosecution, said police spokeswoman Soňa Svobodová to CTK.

The pair of men was originally being prosecuted at liberty. However, when detectives went to visit them in recent days, they discovered that the company's headquarters and their apartments had been sold off in execution.
Both men were located in a guest house near Znojmo. They were staying there with a person who was wanted nationwide, according to the spokeswoman. Therefore, the police arrested all three and requested the court to remand the company representatives in custody. The court granted their request.
According to the police, the development company from the Brno area was doing such poor work that some of their partially built houses had to be demolished. Among the deceived are not only 26 investors but also nearly 30 subcontracting companies that the company has not paid.
