Prague - The Prague City Hall wants to buy part of the land in the southern part of the city again, where a recreational zone with lakes is to be created. After today's city council meeting, the city hall informed the journalists. Last year, the council rejected the purchase of parcels and former greenhouses. Some pointed out that the deal is unfavorable.

The city now wants to buy 83,000 square meters of land and 85,000 square meters of greenhouse space for about 57 million crowns. Last year, the price was about four million higher. "The total price is slightly below the price from the expert opinions," said the mayor's deputy Pavel Klega (ODS). It is expected that the council will approve the purchase now.
According to plans, four lakes with beaches, greenery, and playgrounds are to be created in the area between Radotín and Zbraslav. "In addition to swimming, canoeing, and other water sports that have a tradition in Prague, the city-wide area will also offer opportunities for sailing, water skiing, and more. Suitable water areas for many sports have been lacking in the metropolis so far," Klega stated.
The construction of the water areas will begin with the extraction of gravel. The lakes should also retain water in case of flooding.
