Prague - Prague 7 has a shortage of places in senior homes and houses with care services. The current capacity would need to be increased by about 80 small apartments. The deputy mayor of the seventh district, Tomáš Kaštovský, informed journalists about this today. The shortage of places is expected to be addressed by a new senior home that the city hall plans to build on Tusarova Street in Holešovice.
According to Mayor Kaštovský, approximately 14,000 seniors live in the seventh city district. "We also have many older residents; for example, the second oldest resident of Prague lives in Prague 7," noted the deputy mayor.
The Care Center Prague 7, which is a subsidy organization of the city, currently operates two houses with care services and one facility with serviced apartments. In total, it has 46 apartments available, which is not enough.
The city district therefore wants to build another senior home, which would have about 80 apartments. According to Kaštovský, it could be completed at the turn of 2010 and 2011, and it should cost around 130 million crowns. "Before the construction of the new town hall, it will be the largest investment of the city district," added Kaštovský.
