Prague - Roofers and plumbers have had a busy weekend dealing with the aftermath of the storm, and orders are pouring in. They are trying to complete repairs while the weather is still favorable, according to craftspeople's statements to ČTK. The recent storm that hit the Czech Republic caused significant damage to property, tearing off roofs and uprooting trees.

After Friday's hurricane, roofing and plumbing companies across the country are overwhelmed with work. "We are working from morning until evening. We are trying to get repairs done as quickly as possible. In two days, snow and frost are forecasted, and that won't be possible anymore," said Jan Pavel from a family roofing and plumbing business in Rtyně v Podkrkonoší in the Trutnov region.
Karel Fryš from Kladno also repaired ten roofs over the weekend. "If it doesn’t start snowing, I won't stop in the coming days," he told ČTK.
In the Prachatice region, roofs of dozens of houses are damaged. "People are calling every five minutes, there’s a lot to do," said Pavel Bače from a roofing company in Prachatice. Companies in the Strakonice region are also barely keeping up. "Even without the storm, we have plenty of work. We spent the entire Saturday running around on roofs," said Pavel Mucha from Újezdce near Lnáře in the Strakonice region.
It looks similar in southern Moravia. "Currently, we have five times more orders than at other times," said Roman Navrkal from Brno. Roofer František Kučík from Zlín stated that he is no longer accepting new orders.
Increased interest from small buyers in roofing materials is also noted by construction material sellers. "The interest has been higher since Friday. People mainly want roofing tiles. We expect the demand to increase even more once people settle their insurance," said Petra Sochorová, an employee at the Pardubice branch of VPS.
However, some roofing companies do not observe a higher interest from clients. "We do not feel any increase in orders," said roofer Ivan Dvořák from Pardubice. Roofer Petr Klabouch from Prague shares the same experience.
