Prague - The print distributors První novinová společnost (PNS) and Mediaservis will build a logistics center and the headquarters for both companies in the Sever industrial park in Prague's Horní Počernice. CTK was informed today about this by PNS. The area covering 18,700 square meters will be put into operation in the first half of 2009, although the amount of the investment will not be disclosed. The construction will be managed by the development company VGP.

"The new center will serve for the distribution of print across the Czech Republic and will be equipped with the latest technologies," stated PNS marketing manager Martin Lukeš. According to him, the relocation of both companies will bring financial savings and simpler communication between operations and management. Mediaservis will also gain logistical support in the new center, which it can utilize after the planned liberalization of postal services.
PNS is one of the two main domestic distributors of print for retail, the other being Mediaprint & Kapa Pressegrosso. Last year, PNS achieved a consolidated profit after tax of 197.2 million CZK, which is nearly a quarter less than in 2005. The company's turnover last year fell by about one percent to 5.793 billion CZK.
Mediaservis provides nationwide delivery of print for subscribers and is also the largest alternative postal operator in the Czech Republic. According to its website, it employs 8,000 delivery personnel who annually deliver more than 180 million addressed shipments.
The logistics developer VGP - industrial construction builds industrial buildings in Prague, Brno, Hradec Králové, Olomouc, and Turnov. This year, it plans to invest 120 million euros (approximately 3.3 billion CZK) in the construction of 200,000 square meters of space.
