Pardubice - This year, the Pardubice Region will prepare projects for the reconstruction of the Pardubice Castle and the House of Jonah. These heritage sites are already being utilized and will continue to be used by the East Bohemian Gallery. The region has been promised 178 million crowns from the state and should expend this amount by 2013. Roman Línek (KDU-ČSL), the deputy governor, stated this to ČTK. "By October, the project for the gallery at Jonah's should be completed, and in November, the project for the castle premises will be done. We have the funds allocated from the state," said Línek. The state has promised the region approximately 250 million crowns, of which over 70 million crowns have already been expended in the past for the reconstruction of the regional library, located in a historic building on Pernštýn Square. The region originally wanted to establish the gallery in the former secondary school from the mid-19th century designed by architect Josef Schmoranz. The second option was to demolish the building and build a new gallery. However, the Museum Society opposed this and blocked the handling of the property with a lawsuit. The secondary school is currently being repaired and will serve regional officials. The funds promised by the state have been proposed by the region to be used for the repairs of the East Bohemian Gallery premises.
