Data protectors have again fined for the list of people with regulated rent

Prague - The Office for Personal Data Protection (ÚOOÚ) has punished the Movement for the Defense of Property Owners for the second time for publishing lists of publicly known individuals who have lived or still live in apartments with regulated rent on its website. This time the association received a fine of 50,000 crowns. This penalty is significantly lower than the one imposed for the first publication of the list. At that time, the fine amounted to 550,000 crowns.
    "We disagree with the decision to impose the second fine; it is absurd," said Girolamo Giormani, who leads the association, to the server. The Movement reportedly filed a complaint against the imposition of the fine. The penalty is therefore currently not final.
    The property owners' association does not yet have to pay the first fine of 550,000 crowns, which is one of the highest penalties the ÚOOÚ has imposed for privacy violations to date. The association challenged the fine in court, and the court ruled that the Movement for the Defense of Property does not have to pay the fine for the time being.
    According to the server, the published list includes the names of the chairman of the Tenants' Association Stanislav Křeček, the governor of the central bank Zdeněk Tůma, the head of ČSOB Pavel Kavánek, judges from the High, district, and city courts in Prague, 19 current and former members of parliament and senators, and several Prague representatives, including the mayor of Prague 5, Milan Jančík.
