Prague - During the first week when applications for grants from the New Green Savings program could be submitted, 1,861 applicants submitted requests for 397.5 million crowns. This was reported by Matyáš Vitík, spokesperson for the Ministry of the Environment (MŽP). The figures are current as of this morning.
The conditions for obtaining the grant were announced by the ministry on June 13, and the submission of applications began this Monday. On the first day alone, 1,213 applications totaling 275 million crowns were received.
MŽP has allocated one billion crowns for support, plans to add another 800 million from emission allowances, and has been promised one to two billion crowns from the state enterprise Lesy ČR by the caretaker government. MŽP plans the first disbursements of funds for the fall. The submission of applications will end as soon as the allocated amount is exhausted, but no later than November 29.
The first call mainly focuses on insulation, the construction of family homes with very low energy consumption, efficient use of energy sources, and the replacement of heat sources with solid or environmentally friendly sources.
The first Green Savings program managed 21 billion crowns and supported insulation and new clean heat sources in at least 150,000 households. However, it was insufficient for all applicants. According to Deputy Ombudsman Stanislav Křeček, MŽP also made several mistakes, such as not applying the administrative code. Unsuccessful applicants may thus turn to the court.
