Jaroměř (Náchodsko) - The first visitors today peeked into the newly completed sports hall in Jaroměř in the Náchod region during the open house. From Wednesday morning, the hall will be accessible for students from several schools, sports clubs, and other interested parties, said hall manager Pavel Martínek today to ČTK. The construction of the hall along with the reconstruction of the athletic stadium cost over 100 million crowns. "The hall's capacity is filled to 90 percent; from 08:00 to 15:00 it will be used by schools, then until 21:30 by sports clubs and the public," Martínek said. The sports hall is located next to the Jaroměř gymnasium and offers courts for ball sports, a stand for 210 spectators, and necessary facilities. "Until now, a similarly large hall was missing in Jaroměř; for example, floorball players had to travel to Rtyně v Podkrkonoší for matches," Martínek added. The hall will also be open during weekends and public holidays. The new hall is part of the so-called Sports and Leisure Activity Complex, the construction of which began in October 2008 and, besides the hall, also offers outdoor courts and an athletic stadium. "Interest in outdoor sports facilities has been decent; apart from schools and athletic clubs, there has been particularly strong interest in the two illuminated outdoor courts, where interested parties can play tennis or volleyball in favorable weather," Martínek said. The city received a subsidy of 76 million crowns for the construction of the sports facility, and the entire project was completed about 1.5 months earlier than planned. In recent years, municipal offices in the Hradec Králové Region have invested tens of millions of crowns in the construction and reconstruction of sports facilities. For example, at the beginning of November, the newly completed Sports Center complex in Teplice nad Metují in the Náchod region opened to the public for 25 million crowns. The Teplice sports facility can also be utilized by schoolchildren, local sports clubs, and recreational athletes.
